  • Truax will become the 20th commissioner in league history.

    He had most recently served as deputy commissioner and worked as the CBA's director of operations for two seasons.

  • The award was voted upon by the league's 10 head coaches. Selvy averaged 22.7 points per game, good for second in the league, and added averages of 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals.

    Selvy, a University of Oklahoma product, was also an 85.8 percent free throw shooter for the Cavalry, who recently won the National Conference and advanced to the league's championship against the Minot Skyrockets. The best-of-five series begins Saturday.

  • The team, which has been named the East Kentucky Miners and is owned by Trinity Sports & Entertainment Group, Inc., will play at the Kentucky Expo Center.

    Kevin Keathley, 29, a native of the area, will be the Miners first coach. Most recently, he was an assistant coach of the Rio Grande Silverados of the American Basketball Association. (ABA).

  • Selected with the second overall pick in the 1991 NBA draft out of Georgia Tech by New Jersey, Anderson enjoyed a 14-year NBA career, averaging 12.6 points and 6.1 assists with nine different teams.

    "I am very excited about being a part of the CBA organization," said Anderson. "Becoming a coach after playing in the NBA has been a goal of mine that I dreamed about fulfilling for many years. Many great coaches started their career with the CBA, such as, Phil Jackson, George Karl, and Flip Sanders. I feel that coming back to the city where I was a college star at Georgia Tech to coach, is a blessing."

  • Coyne has resigned from his position as Vice President and General Manager of the Albany Patroons.

    During Coyne's tenure as President, the Patroons won two CBA championships and he was named the 1984 CBA Executive of the Year. Coyne had the insight to hire future NBA head coaches Phil Jackson, George Karl and the late Bill Musselman as Patroons head coaches.

  • Oklahoma City has previously been part of the CBA, as the Cavalry called the city home from the 1990-91 season through the 1996-97 campaign.

    "We are glad to be able to bring Oklahoma City back into the CBA," said CBA Director of Operations Dennis Truax.

  • The league said the current schedule will remain, but the Utah games would be played by the remaining seven franchises. The updated schedule and the results of a dispersal draft will be announced on Thursday.

    "This is an unfortunate turn of events for the Utah Eagles and the CBA as a whole," said Apex Sportstainment CEO Joe Clark. "We came into this situation only seven days before the start of the season, when the previous owner had family obligations that forced him to return the franchise to the league, with the thought of finding a buyer at a later date. That date has come and we have not been able to find a buyer and it leaves us no other choice but to cease operations in Utah."

  • Jones averaged 15.5 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Steelheads (6-8), who currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference.

    Clancy, meanwhile, posted averages of 21 points and 16.5 rebounds, helping the Stampede (9-7) to a 1-1 record last week.

  • According to the Olympian, Turiaf has been medically cleared by doctors and was given full permission to return to the court.

    Turiaf was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 37th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, but never played with the team after it was discovered during a routine physical that he had an enlarged aortic heart that needed surgery.

  • Boseman averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 assists per game last week, leading Rockford to a 2-0 record for first place in the Eastern Conference. On the season, Boseman is averaging 20.5 points and 5.9 assists per contest.

    Thomas helped the Wizards into first place in the West, posting 27.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

  • "We are delighted to have Micheal Ray Richardson re-join the Patroons as our head coach," stated Patroons president and owner Ben Fernandez.

    Richardson played for the Patroons during the 1987-88 campaign and led the team to a 48-6 record in the regular season. Albany then went on to capture the CBA championship.

  • Jones averaged 25.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game last week, as the Storm won two of their three games to remain in first place in the Eastern Conference.

    Hadley led the Skyforce to a 3-1 record last week as he posted averages of 25.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. Sioux Falls leads the Western Conference.

  • In five games, Young averaged 18.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game, pushing the Sun Kings to a 4-1 mark in the stretch. The team is in first place in the CBA's National Conference.

    Young collected 17 points and 16 boards while dishing out 13 assists in a loss to Albany on December 8, then followed up by contributing 22 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists to help Yakama defeat Albany two days later. With the achievement, Young became the first CBA player in six years to record triple- doubles in consecutive games. Former Sun King David Vanderpool achieved the feat on March 24 and 25, 2000.

  • Martin averaged 20.3 points, 5.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds during the week and helped the Mayhem to their first victory in franchise history on December 2, 107-98 over the Rockford Lightning.

    Keys led the Wizards to a 2-0 record for the week as he posted averages of 23.5 points, 11.0 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game.

  • Karl's head coaching career started in 1980 with the CBA's Montana Golden Nuggets and ended with a stint with the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks.

  • The league announced that the Vancouver Dragons and the Pittsburgh Xplosion will participate in the 2006-07 CBA season.

    The Dragons will play their games at the 4,500-seat Agrodome on the grounds of the Pacific National Exhibition in downtown Vancouver British Columbia, host city of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Veteran coach Rick Turner will serve as the Dragons first head coach.

  • "First of all, hes a great kid," said Albany coach Michael Ray Richardson. "He's a great offensive player and he will bring a level of excitement to the CBA. He's a scoring machine."

    Thompson, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound guard, led the Colonials to their first Atlantic 10 Championship and first NCAA Tournament appearance last season. He averaged 13.6 points per game in 2004-05 and made a team-high 74 three- pointers.

  • Bliss was head coach of the Bears' program when Carlton Dotson shot and killed teammate Patrick Dennehy in June 2003. In the aftermath of the incident, it was found that Bliss and his coaching staff attempted to mislead investigators by making Dennehy look like a drug dealer. Bliss would resign two months after the shooting and it was later found that his program committed a number of NCAA violations.

    Dotson eventually pleaded guilty this past June to killing Dennehy.

  • The Florida Pit Bulls, Indiana Alleycats and Southern California Legends -- all owned by Trinity Sports & Entertainment Group, Inc. -- will leave the ABA to join the CBA. Two additional franchises owned by TSEG will be named later.

    TSEG is a holding and management company formed by former NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway, NFL quarterback Jay Fiedler and south Florida investment banker Demetrius Ford.

  • Ticknor completed his second season with Gary in 2003-04 and ninth overall as a professional head coach. His overall regular-season record with the Steelheads is 52-44.

    "Duane has been invaluable in helping to make this organization successful," said chief operating officer Jewell Harris Jr., Esq. "He is one of the most respected coaches in the CBA, and he has helped make the Steelheads one of the premier franchises in minor league basketball."

  • The team in Great Falls is owned by Apex Sportstainment, which has already added teams in San Jose and Butte, Montana. The Butte franchise was revealed on Wednesday, and there will be still another announcement for a fourth Apex team in the league.

"We expect to put a very competitive team on the floor that will represent the city of Great Falls and the surrounding communities; we hope to grow into a very successful franchise, which will make the citizens proud. The state of Montana has just increased its chances of winning the CBA title, with teams in Butte and Great Falls."
